^^^ McKenna with her dad, Addison, mom, Jaime and little brother Ashton at their Ankeny home
Every quarter, our team picks a local family to donate a percentage of our proceeds to and our first quarter was a great success! We were able to give over $6,000 to the Lahey family.
This quarter we will be giving to the Riebkes family.
On May 16, 2016, McKenna was diagnosed with a large tumor in her abdomen and stage 3 cancer. With the tumor being so large, and unable to be removed, McKenna started her 1st round of chemotherapy. Many ups and downs and 2 rounds of chemo later, the tumor had shrunk 75%!
On August 23rd, McKenna underwent an extremely risky surgery to remove the remainder of the tumor. The surgery was a success and the doctor’s were unexpectedly able to remove the entire tumor.
Recently, McKenna had her last chemo treatment. She still has quite the journey ahead of her, including a long stay at the University of Minnesota for a stem cell transplant, radiation and antibody therapy.
This three year old has been such a little warrior with everything she’s been through. She’s a shining star for many people!
